A Message From Archbishop Nienstedt

Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt

For more than four decades, the CSA has provided a way for the Catholics of our Archdiocese to meet the physical, educational and spiritual needs of our brothers and sisters.

The theme of this year’s appeal, “Many are the promises of God”, is drawn from a beautiful passage from St. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. It reminds us that all of God’s promises to His people are manifested in His Son, Jesus. God has “put His seal upon us,” St. Paul writes, “and given us the Spirit in our hearts.” May your response to this appeal come from deep within your heart. Your support enables our Archdiocese to share God’s promises with His sons and daughters, especially those in need.

The Catholic Services Appeal is the primary source of support for the shared ministries in this local Church that no one individual or parish can do alone. These monies help low-income seniors, pregnant women and refugees through the outreach programs of Catholic Charities. They transform the lives of our young people through support of Catholic education in our parishes and schools. They prepare our 68 seminarians for priestly ordination.  They assist in caring for our retired priests. They provide assistance to our mission in Venezuela, a parish with 65,000 members.

In order to fund these critically important ministries, I am asking for your help.  Working together we make possible the promises of God to so many of His sons and daughters by sharing a portion of the gifts He has generously bestowed on us.

The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt
Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis
